Table Mountain
The trail where photos were taken is colored red.
I began the Table Mountain Hike at TH for Aldrich Butte off Hwy 14
Looking back toward the gorge from under the power lines near the TH
This trail begins as the same trail to Aldrich Butte
But simply follow the markers to Table Mountain
The trail climbs more steeply as it nears Table Mountain
The trail continues
This is the junction of the cutoff trail and the PCT #2000 trail... was reopened 2008
Most of the first 3 miles of this hike is in dense forested areas
Here the trail up Table Mtn leaves the PCT
From the PCT to the top of Table Mtn is very very steep and rugged
Looking across to Hamilton Mountain
Looking up at the summit of Table Mountain
Looking up at the trail ahead
Looking east over a saddle toward the gorge
The trail continues climbing steeply
The steep trail and the summit of Table Mtn
The steep and rugged trail up Table Mountain
Looking east over the saddle at the Columbia River
Looking back down at Hamilton Mountain
The trail continues climbing and will soon enter more forest
The trail continues
Looking west at a powerline path and a logged off area
The trail gets dangerously close to the western drop off of the mountain
Another look back and down at Hamilton Mtn
Another look over the cliffy western side of Table Mtn - not a good place to trip
The trail continues to climb steeply
Beargrass and other wildflowers are abundant in season
The last area to climb
Almost there with a look east at the summit ridge
A look south past Bonneville Dam toward Mt Hood, Oregon
Telephoto look at Bonneville Dam
The top at last
Mt St Helens peeking over the ridge to the northwest
Glacier Lilies are common on the summit in May
Looking south at Mt Hood
The trail works its way to the north end of this tabled peak
Now Mt Adams comes into view
A clear shot of Mt Adams to the northeast
Looking north thru the haze at Mt Rainier
Looking east at Dog Mtn rising above the Columbia River
A view of Mt Hood as the trail leads to the eastern point of the table
Another view of Mt Adams from the trail to the eastern point
Another view of Mt Adams
Looking down on Hamilton Mountain
Again Mt Hood rises above Bonneville Dam
The final stretch of trail to the southeastern corner - note the descending trail
Looking down at the saddle cliff with Bonneville Dam in distance
Another great view of Mt Hood and Bonneville Dam and the cliff face
Looking back at the fractured face of the summit - USE EXTREME CAUTION
Looking down on the southern fractured face of Table Mountian from the summit
Another view looking down on the fractured southern face
Looking east from the summit of Table Mtn
As you descend the southern exposure of Table Mtn you get these type of views
Looking again to the south at Mt Hood and Bonneville Dam
Another glimpse of Mt Hood if you return to the trial you ascended
More views of Mt Hood and Bonneville Dam as you descend
A look back to the north at surrounding hills
Another shot of the cliffy area of the saddle
More views of Mt Hood and Bonneville Dam on descent
The saddle and the Columbia River beyond
