Cape Horn Overlook
The trail where photos were taken is colored red.
The trail begins right along Hwy 14
You might get a glimpse of some of the local wildlife
The sign assures you that you are on the trail
In the spring the trail is lined with Larkspur wildflowers
The trail is mostly within a dense alder forest
Columbine wildflower along the trail
Switchbacks are gentle as the trail gains elevation
Close up shot of the Larkspur
The trail continues to climb
False lily-of-the-valley wildflower
The trail continues to climb
After a sharp and steep right the trail breaks out beneath power lines
However you still catch a great view of Silver Star Mtn in the distance
Back into the dense forest as you near the overlooks
Almost there
Ah, Ha, the Cape Horn Overlook - looking south across the Columbia River to Oregon
These photos are in order and pan to the east
Looking eastward
A telephoto shot of the area around Multnomah Falls on the Oregon side of the river
Now back into the forest for a short walk to the 2nd overlook
Here is the final destination of this overlook hike
Basically the same views as the first, but worth the extra few feet of walking
A telephoto shot of Multnomah Falls over on the Oregon side of the Columbia River
A parting shot of the beautiful Indian Paintbrush wildflowers along the trail
