Northwest Hiker firmly respects your privacy and will make every attempt to handle personal information about visitors responsibly.


You can browse www.nwhiker.com, subject to our website Terms of Service, without telling us who you are and without revealing any personal information. The only information we collect from a typical ordinary web site visit (one that does not involve a form submission) is your IP address, the pages you view and the date and time you view them. We use this information to measure site activity in order to improve the usefulness of our website to our visitors.


When a visitor asks us to provide information or a service, we request information that enables us to respond to the visitor. This information could include contact information (such as name, mailing address, and email address) and, if applicable, financial, payment, or billing information.

A cookie is a small data file stored on a visitor's computer that contains information about the visitor. Cookies are not used on the Northwest Hiker website or smartphone applications.


When you are using the Northwest Hiker's smartphone application or this website, you may determine your current location and use that information to help you find directions to hike trailhead through the trailhead coordinates linkage. We do not see or learn of your location information when getting direction through the trailhead coordinates linkage, nor do we use it for any purpose other than to determine your distance from the hike trailheads in our provided coordinates. If you are not comfortable with this, you may disable the use of location services in the device you are using at any time. Please note that our smartphone application and trailhead coordinates linkage can also be used to obtain turn-by-turn directions to reach the hikes in our database. Using this functionality will not send your location information to the Northwest Hiker website, but it may result in your location data being sent to a third-party provider of your device's default mapping application.
