Q. Why do I get a warning message every time I click to view a larger
photo?
A.
This is a new problem that has come about due to all the annoying pop-up
messages we get when viewing the internet. Windows is now designed to
challenge such pop-ups. However, you can configure Windows to accept the
pop-ups from this CD without putting your computer in jeopardy and without
affecting the pop-ups from the internet. Click

Q.
Why can't I hear the music while viewing the slideshows?
A.
Because I use Windows Internet Explorer technology to run my CDs, it may
be necessary to configure Internet Explorer on your computer so that it
will play music from CDs. Click Here for details
on how to make the safe and helpful changes to your computer.
Q.
Why would I want to buy the CD when the web site is FREE?
A.
The CD has 5 TIMES as Many Digital Photos per Hike, Greatly Enhanced Maps and Graphics,
Directions on how to find the trail heads, Outstanding Slide Shows, and because the
information is on a CD in your computer, there is no wait for internet download time.
And, Oh, did I mention the FREE SCREENSAVER?
Q.
Will the CD work if a person does NOT have internet service?
A.
Absolutely! Although there are links on the CD to the internet, it is NEVER necessary
to access the internet to view the full benefits of the CD.
Q.
Why do you have links on the CD to the internet?
A.
The links are there to offer the viewer and opportunity to learn more about
Northwest Hiker and its website, nwhiker.com. Also, I have links
to various other websites that offer additional information.
Q.
Does this CD place any cookies or other such things into my computer?
A.
Absolutely NOT. The only thing that will be placed into your computer
is the Free Screensaver available on the CD, and then ONLY if you ask
the CD to install it.
Q.
I click on screensaver and all I get is a blank screen. Why?
A.
Some computers have difficulty enabling the html code to call
up an exe file. Use your computer's Explore function to view
the CD's contents, and double click the gorgeFULL.exe file,
or the gorgeWIDE.exe file, and it
will give you the opportunity to
load it onto your computer.
Q.
I can't get the topo maps to open.
A.
Please know that your computer must have a program
that can view PDF files. If it doesn't, you can
download such a program for free from the internet
at this Link.
Q.
Why don't I see a photo on the pop-up windows when I click the
camera icons on the
maps.
A.
The pop-up larger photo is an attempt to add extra features to this CD. However, it
is not necessary to enjoy the full benefits of the program. Please note that
if you have installed an anti-pop-up program, or if you have Windows SP2 this will affect
our program's ability to pop-up the larger photos. Also, there are some older systems that
won't work this function properly. This is why we have made the Thumbnail photos as large
as they are, so the viewer can still get the full benefit of our program. Also, if this
function isn't working properly, be sure your screen is set for 800x600.
