This hike is relatively steep as it
climbs through wooded areas and eventually out in the open near
the summit of Angel's Rest where there are great vistas of the
Columbia River Gorge and the surrounding
mountains.
You pass Coopey Falls near the beginning of the hike.
And then cross Coopey Creek on an excellent bridge
constructed by a local youth club. From this point
on the trail gets consistently steep.
This hike is open anytime you are able to get to
the trailhead. And it varies wonderfully with each
season. Of course, spring and summer offer outstanding
floral displays along the way to the top.
And the top offers rewarding views in nearly all
directions. On a clear day Mt. Adams is visible
as it peeks over the top of Table Mountain to the
east.
Use Extreme Caution around
the cliff areas on top.
The following images are random samples of the wildflowers found in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.
