Length: 1.42 miles entire loop
Elevation Change: 60 feet
Season: Year round - weather permitting
Difficulty: Easy
Permit: Pass Not Required
Features:
This is a very special trail in that it is one of the few trails
that had the less fortunate in mind. This short paved trail brings
the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge and wildflower displays to
those who for whatever reason cannot negotiate regular trails. As
with all of the hikes in this area, the floral displays are dependant
on the weather and the season in which you visit Catherine Creek.
The Universal Access Trail is set up at a figure 8, so one can get
a bit of variety if that is of interest to you. There are benches and
little wooden bridges, and lots and lots of views. Keep in mind for
all the hikes here on the east side of the Cascade Mountains, the weather
here is almost always better than the west side. So, if it is raining
in Portland or Vancouver, well, just go to nwhiker.com and check out
the webcams in the area and see for yourself if it is raining in
this area. You might be pleasently surprised.
