This is a popular hike that is richly rewarded. The hike takes you past the junction to Lake Ann and up a rigorous climb to Heather and Maple Passes.

From the parking area, the trail to Lake Ann, Heather Pass, and Maple Pass begins almost immediately as a steep climb out of the valley floor. In about a mile and a half you will come to a junction to Lake Ann.

If you continue on toward Heather Pass, the trail climbs steadily and uses a number of switchbacks to gain elevation as it climbs steeply for another mile and a half until you reach the pass.

To continue on to Maple Pass, the trail climbs more gently for yet another half mile. It is so worth the extra half mile, as you are treated to fantastic views of glacier covered mountains to the south.
